The third-generation Toyota Auris

The third-generation Toyota Auris was revealed to the world at the Geneva motor show with some electrifying enhancements.

While a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine will be available, an exciting 1.8-litre hybrid electric powertrain which will offer up 50 percent all-electric driving in everyday commuting will also be available, while a high-output 2.0-litre full hybrid model is on offer in some markets.

The new Auris is built on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform which provides a more rewarding driving experience thanks to a low centre of gravity, multi-link rear suspension, and a more rigid body shell.  Better handling and stability are present with the use of TNGA while comfort is not compromised.

The Auris features a much more bold, dynamic and sleek design. This was achieved by lowering the ride height, increasing the length by 40mm, the width by 30mm and decreasing the height by 25mm. On top of this, new LED lighting for the front and rear and the addition of a small front-lip spoiler and a rear roof spoiler result in a much more striking and sporty design.

We can expect the new Auris to arrive in South Africa during the second half of 2018, with model line-up and specs becoming available closer to the launch.
