The launch of the BMW iX3 brings electric mobility to the heart of the X series with the ever-familiar shape of the X3, now powered by a 210kW electric motor.Fans of the locally-built X3 will feel at home with subtle exterior changes like the closed grille, aerodynamic wheels and discrete iX3 badging. Inside, the cabin gets unique styling touches like a blue start/stop button and blue detailing on the gear selector. It seems BMW has intentionally retained familiarity as opposed to dramatic styling changes that denote all-electrification, either way, the iX3 will appeal to existing X3 owners who are trying to make the move to emission-free driving pleasure.
Powering the iX3 is an electric motor that pushes 210kW and 400Nm through the back wheels, for a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 6.8 seconds with power consumption of around 18.9 – 21.6 kWh/100 km, giving the vehicle a range of 440-505 km, it is perfectly suitable to the urban commute as well as longer drives. A fast charge feature also gives the iX3 the ability to gain a 100km range charge in around 10 minutes.
Pricing for the BMW iX3 M Sport starts at R1 290 000.
