Over the second weekend of February SMG gathered up a convoy in support of the annual Rally to Read charity drive. SMG has been a proud sponsor of the event since its inception over 20 years ago.
Rally to Read relies on the help of sponsors to supply essential learning resources to underprivileged rural schools throughout South Africa. Rally to Read’s mission is to provide these children with an opportunity for a brighter future, by giving them access to educational materials and providing training and support for their teachers.
Close to 80 volunteers travelled to rural areas near Bergville in vehicles loaded with books, stationery, and recreational equipment. Upon arriving at their allocated schools, volunteers were met with the warmest welcome from grateful students and teachers who had all gathered to be a part of the special occasion.
SMG is proud to be the mobility partner for Rally to Read and ensure that volunteers are able to travel safely through even the most difficult terrain areas. We would like to thank all the volunteers and sponsors involved who selflessly gave their time and resources to this worthy cause.
