Introducing the BMW X7 Concept

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Make way for the quintessential luxury automobile. The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance is an extraordinarily innovative vehicle, crafted with an eye for ground-breaking design and inspiring presence. Equipped with an unbelievable amount of space and comfort, it’s prepared for a smooth yet powerful debut.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qStR-fUevXA”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]BMW’s largest and most luxurious SUV to date made its world debut last week at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. Presented in concept form, the X7 was received with mix impressions, mostly related to its front-end design which is extremely polarizing. BMW is trying to signify how imposing the new X7 is and seems to be doing so in almost a Rolls Royce sort of way. Up until now, the largest BMW SUV you could buy was the X5. With a third row as an option, the X5 was never really a seven-seater.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

READY TO MAKE A GRAND ENTRANCE.

Presence is a matter of charisma. The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance demonstrates this from every perspective. Despite its considerable size, it stills gives off an air of finesse and extreme agility. The narrow styling of the rear and the dynamic design lines create a flowing, forward movement. True grandeur and superiority come through via the prominent upright kidney grilles, the mighty air inlets, and the elegantly accentuated surfaces. This vehicle radiates pure greatness.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3775″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3773″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Now, the BMW X7 will be the flagship luxury SUV in the Bavarian lineup and it will contend with cars like the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class and even the Range Rover Autobiography.

BMW CEO Harald Krueger has high expectations for the new X7. “We are targeting to be the No. 1 in our [large luxury SUV] segment,” he said. “Mercedes was quite a long time alone in that segment. And I like the competition that we bring.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The full-size, three-row X7 will be one of the biggest BMWs produced, and it has a grille to match. It’s tall and the height is emphasized by the very sleek headlights. The laser lights have “X” designs, and this is the first BMW X model with perfectly round wheel arches. Inside the BMW X7 Concept, you’ll notice many features that are reminiscent of the BMW 8 Series Concept’s cabin. The futuristic steering wheel, iDrive controller, glass shift lever and fully digital gauge cluster all look either plucked straight from the 8 Series Concept or at least inspired by it. Whereas the exterior of the X7 Concept is all about being sophisticated, yet imposing, the interior is all about high-tech minimalism.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3777″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

A PALATIAL ESTATE.

Merely opening the doors makes it apparent—BMW Concept X7 iPerformance embraces spatial luxury. Generously dimensioned windows, combined with the panoramic glass roof extending from the windshield to the rear, generate an incomparable sense of airiness that brings new meaning to the phrase “out on the road.” The seats themselves, a mix of dark olive-bronze and Smoke White leather, serve as a nod to exclusivity, down to the finest details.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

PILE IN WITHOUT PILING ON.

Comfort and roominess never take a backseat in BMW’s largest SAV. On one hand, the X7 Concept iPerformance was built with the driver in mind. The raised seating of the driver’s cabin provides unbeatable visibility, and the 12.3-inch instrument cluster puts control at the driver’s fingertips while keeping a “reduced to essentials” aesthetic. For the passengers, the adjustable second row allows for easy access to the 3rd row, so even when this 6-seater with Captain’s Chairs is filled, it doesn’t feel too full.

MODERN THROUGH MODERATION.

This beauty bears the hallmarks of handcrafted, natural perfection. The X7 Concept iPerformance utilizes a brilliant mix of light and dark to create an atmosphere of balance and tranquility. Dynamic ambient and contour lighting, with strands of laser light in the roof, plus polished aluminum elements throughout the interior provide brightness. Harmony is then established through the selective use of open-pore ash wood with a dark-stained, matte finish.

MORE THAN JUST A CONVERSATION STARTER.

This is a new form of car talk. The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance takes an unprecedented leap forward in the realm of playful and functional interaction. Second row passengers can access a plethora of infotainment courtesy of the rear-seat touchscreens. From there, the versatile, state-of-the-art interface allows passengers in the first and second rows to share content with each other—and the world at large.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”3788″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The BMW i Vision Dynamics

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

BMW show us a glimpse of the near future with the release of the BMW i Vision Dynamics.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]It have been said that while others are discussing the future of technology in motor vehicles, BMW are already creating it. This has been proven true at the 67th 2017 IAA Cars event hosted in Frankfurt, where BMW have released their vision of the very near future-The BMW i Vision Dynamics.

This futuristic concept car is a four-door Gran Coupe with an impressive electric range of 600 km – in more simpler terms, one could make a trip from Durban to Johannesburg on just one full charge. Performance is not left behind with this kind of efficiency either, as the BMW i Vision Dynamics boasts a 0-100km/h time of just 4 seconds.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3725″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The BMW i Vision dynamics showcases what the future of electric BMW has in store. Harald Kruger, Chairman of the Board of Management at BMW SG said “At the BMW Group, the future of electric mobility has already arrived”.

This statement is backed up by the fact that BMW currently have more electric vehicles on the road than any competitor, and release of the i Performance Dynamics shows BMW’s commitment to the future of electric mobility. By 2025, BMW will offer 25 models with an electrified drive system, with 12 of these models being pure electric. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The design identity of BMW i is unique but still retains the classical BMW proportions, the long wheelbase and flowing lines are attenuated by flush integrations of the glass and body panels and give off a very clean but sporty style. Of course, BMW have retained the iconic kidney grill theme and with the i Performance Dynamics, they steal the show in terms of front end design. The Kidneys are large, bold and enclosed and while they are a nice visual element, they also act as intelligent surfaces. The rear also possesses a smooth, clean finish which is inline with the vehicle’s electric appeal. One may notice a similar design theme to the upcoming BMW 8 Series, which also emphasises the direction of BMW’s design language.  [/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3726″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3727″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3729″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3728″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEUqInF9VgY”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The design identity of BMW i is unique but still retains the classical BMW proportions, the long wheelbase and flowing lines are attenuated by flush integrations of the glass and body panels and give off a very clean but sporty style. ABSA Ride & Drive – Franschoek Motor Museum

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]SMG Cape Town hosted a Ride and Drive event to the infamous Anthonij Rupert Wine Estate situated on the R44 in Franschhoek.

Clients enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast and tour of our state of the arts BMW Future Retail Showroom in Century City before heading off to experience sheer driving pleasure in our carefully selected range of BMW’s.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Upon arrival at Anthonij Rupert Wine Estate clients were escorted by tram to the Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room where they received a private tour of Mr Rupert’s Cellar and a briefing on the manufacturing process. We would have to agree that it’s certainly not as easy to make as it is to drink.

Thereafter clients enjoyed a tour of the Franschhoek Motor Museum and an antipasti lunch at the estate’s restaurant Terra Del Cappo Restaurant.
